Diagnosis of Deep Periprosthetic Infection of the Hip

Periprosthetic infection (PJI) is one of the most frequent and devastating complications total hip arthroplasty (THA). Early accurate diagnosis PJI allows timely initiation treatment. Various diagnostic tools algorithms for are described. The available serum (ESR, CRP, D-dimer, etc.) synovial (alpha-defensin, leukocyte esterase, D-lactate) biomarkers listed, as well their combinations purpose verification. Combined tests can significantly improve efficiency diagnosis.
